Hanging on to The Last of Summer.

Hi these are 2 little necklaces I've made & listed in both my MISI & FOLKSY shops so lets see which sells first. They close with sleek, super strong magnetic clasps with are great if you have trouble with doing the catches or children that pull your necklaces.

Swopping!!!

Well I enjoyed my first swop on MISI so much I had to get my hand in organising one, I wanted to create something a little different though, so came up with a destash swop because everyone has lots of bits and pieces they don't need but would like to see turned into something beautiful.
I have so far only advertised the swop on MISI and there's not much time left, you need to sent me details by SAT 27th June, but if anyone else would like to join in please feel free to message me with your details and you can join the fun too.

THE RULES

Step 1: you will be given your swappers name & address on the 28th June to cyber stalk them as you wish

Step 2: you then pick out a random amount of your stash be it wool, beads, charms, metals, smellies making stuff whatever;amounting to about £5, (just the raw stock do not make it into anything) that you think your swappee will enjoy playing with. You can give them something easy like wool for someone who knits or something for a challenge like a soap making kit for someone who makes jewellery.

Step 3: Post your swap on alotted day(before June 1st), sit back & wait for yours to arrive.

Step 4: Recieve your swap then get making, you will have one month to make something using your item, no cheating you have to use it all.

Step 5: On the 1st August post lovely pictures of your results on MISI, the MISI group on Flickr and the forums here, generally discuss lots on blogs etc giving everyone a hits boost.

Step 6: Sit back look at work and feel proud.The above pictures are a little bit of my beady stash, but i may have to pick from my wool, fabric stash instead, hmmm.

Pearl - Birthstone for June.

The Pearl is associated with loyalty, faithfulness and friendship & Traditional Metaphysical Properties for the June Birthstone Pearl are modesty, chastity and purity.

Its healing properties relate to the heart, spleen, stomach, intestine & ulcer problems and the Pearl is also used to enhance personal integrity.

The traditional colour associated with the Pearl is a milky white & was strongly favored as a popular gem in Victorian jewelry, they come in a wide variety of colors ranging from white to black. The colour of a pearl might be classed as white, silver, cream-colored, gold, green, blue or black.

The word Pearl is derived from the Latin word "pirum" which means "pear" which reflects the shape of the gem. A smooth lustrous round structure having a brilliant luster, with varying tints, found inside the shell of a mollusk such as a clam or oyster, it's made due to secretions of a shelly substance around some irritating foreign particle. Its substance is the same as nacre, or mother-of-pearl.

Pearls which are round, or nearly round, and of fine luster, are highly esteemed as jewels, and compare in value with precious stones. Real pearls are made by oysters or other mollusks whilst imitation pearls are man-made. Cultured pearls are made by mollusks but with human intervention (an irritant introduced into their shells causes a pearl to grow).

A good sized pearl can take between five to eight years to form, which is usually the entire life of the oyster or mollusk. The cost depends on the size & the coating, or “nacre”, on a real pearl which gives it its iridescence.

Say hello to Hannah.

Hi saturday tends to be the only time I get to sit down and have a good make day, however that was slowed down today by a teething Lucas, poor boy was chewing like crazy, but now has one tooth, how cute.
I'm trying to get the items listed now but there's one I'm really proud of, my Hannah necklace and Earrings set, I recently bought lots of beads from Glassmania from MISI and am now making them up but its such a difficult process to take such wonderful items & and show their colours hidden within while not dimishing their simple colourful beauty.
I feel with this I achieved my goal.

Emerald Showcase Friday

Popped my swapping cherry(almost)!

Hi i've been involved in my first online swap at Misi, it was based on our store names,
Looby Crafts sent me a beautiful shoppers clipboard, they're in her Misi shop & are way underpriced in my opinion, if you need a gift for a complusive list maker the link's above.
it was great to receive such a lovely gift and i had to fight Maisie for it, all that ribbon was just too much for her. Thanks Looby.

The Emerald Month of May

Happy Mayday.

For you guys born in the month of May the Emerald is your traditional birthstone.

The metaphysical properties for the Emerald are memory, clairvoyance and faith and its healing properties are reputed to be effective for health problems relating to the eyes, fertility, the spine, headaches & also used to enhance mental capabilities.

The traditional color associated with the Emerald is the deep green color and was strongly used as a popular gem in Victorian jewellery.

The symbolic meaning of the color green was renewal of life and nature.

Birthday Lampies

A couple of weeks ago was my birthday, so as a treat to myself i bought some beautful lampies from Deborah at Glassmania's Misi shop. Now i love beads and making things with them and have used very simple lampwork beads in my creations before but i've never bought ones of this standard before, however i've not posted about them yet as i wanted some alone time just to look and feel them , weird, maybe.
