Bed Song for Valentines

I love valentines day, after being married for so long Stu & I celebrate just by sending time together, cooking nice food(baked cheese, kingprawn curry and baked apples and ice cream) and relaxing.  Yet I still love seeing young men walking down streets holding flowers, and working in a shop you see all the gift buyers.  It gives me hope that's there still so much lovely love in the world.
I know I've mentioned Amanda Palmer in lots of posts already(I maybe a little obsessed by the lady's talents) but for Valentines day she has released a video version of Bed Song(one of my favourites). Now on the album I really liked the song, but when sung live it broke my heart and I cried listening to it (wuss I know) Amanda Palmer stated she wasn't happy with the album version, it lacked punch and tweaked it for the video, and bloody hell what a beautiful shiny new version it is.
So readers this is my valentine for you, watch, enjoy and cry happy tears.

Love your Amanda.

Friday - I'm in Love

It's Friday, and I always think of the wonderful Cure song and dancing like a loon in The Wheel nightclub as a "youth", even though it was never a Friday when it played.
I thought I'd start a round up of things I'm currently loving, and maybe post it on...
you guessed it, Friday.

First is coffee, I bloody love coffee. I worked for several years in a couple of coffee shops but this one for the longest. It's left me for an addiction for Costa Coffee.
My favourite treat is a mocha and chocolate twist but my waistline won't stand too many,
but hey it's Christmas  Friday so why not.
Okay so it's a shoddy image and I can't get a better one but I love this dress, the La Rochelle dress from Monsoon(click on it for a better view) for £49. I'm heading off for a special, sunny holiday in March/April and am already thinking ahead to clothes for it.
I also think Mexican styling will be everywhere this Summer, so it's worth collecting pieces early.

Which brings me to my next love
I've always loved her artwork, and her story of becoming an artist and lifestyle is so interesting.
More so I love her style, the jewel colours, flowers, skeletons, daily living and strength shown through art.

Next up is this wonderful poster from Amanda Palmer's Grand Theft Orchestra Tour, it an illustration from The Bed Song, a hauntingly beautiful song which I'll admit to crying to at the concert we went to.
I would love it framed about my bed to remind me that money, other people and work should not come between you and your partner.
click the poster to hear the song.

Finally a jolly song for the weekend, fitting giving my blog title.
Have a lovely weekend.
Find something to love.

Old friendships, Dancing and Music Goddesses.

I've been trying to write this post for over a week now, really I'm not a music journalist and can't get my head round explaining the experience of seeing Amanda Palmer in concert.
So I'll start with how cool it was to meet up with an old friend I'd not seen for years, thankfully with the joys of Facebook and Twitter, Christine and I stayed in touch when she moved away.  Social media is great for keeping in touch even when house moves, ex Husbands, having babies and work all try to keep you apart. We arranged to finally meet up again through our appreciation of Amanda Palmer.
Tickets bought, hotel booked; and on our way to Glasgow we went.
Christine and I, a few drinks in- ah bless student union prices.
This is lady herself, Amanda Fucking Palmer and her Grand Theft Orchestra, her gig isn't just your standard; band sings some songs and has a chat in between them.  I think every one of her shows has a personal feel to the audience there, the Orchestra changes each night - we had the Hounddog Horns who were amazing.
The entire performance is an emotional journey, especially if you've followed Amanda's blog and seen the blood, sweat and Kickstarter tears she's put into making this happen.
She was a joy to watch and made me love music again.
I'm not going to say much more, I'll let the pictures show the fun.
You can download her album (pay whatever you can) from her website, or even better go see her and make your own connection.
I think if I had a Chad I'd do this a lot too.
I've also posted her latest music video Do it with a Rockstar, which made me reflect on how great a video it is(read the background here) and when did standard music videos become so boring?
Beware the video contains a wee bit of nudity, girls kissing and glitter abuse.
Thanks for reading my ramblings

Beautiful Music for Beautiful People

I've followed the amazing talents of Amanda Palmer for quite some time, and was beyond excited to hear she was gigging in England. Tickets went on sale last week and the gig I wanted sold out in minutes.
Cue a very grumpy Amanda.
I was hoping to catch up with fellow Palmer fan and old friend Christine at this gig, I've not seen her for many years even though she doesn't live far away; life, marriage, work and  babies get in the way.
The joys of social media is that you can still chat away, and as we'd conspired to see this gig together, I was a little sad it hadn't panned out.
But then, oh yeah Christine came up with the goods and scored 2 tickets for us, yippee. So I'll leave you with Amanda Palmer's latest tune to see if I can inspire a new fan. This video is beautifully shot, I was totally absorbed watching the words unfold. *WARNING: it contains nudity*

Hope you like
